Pimple patches are small stickers you place over a breakout. They became popular through Korean skincare and today come in all kinds of designs.
How do they work?
Most are made of hydrocolloid, a material that absorbs fluid from the pimple and protects it from the outside. That keeps you from touching or popping it, which is what usually leaves marks.
Which pimples do they work best on?
- Yes: whiteheads or pimples that are already open.
- Less so: deep pimples, cysts or acne that hasn't come to the surface.
If you have frequent or painful acne, it's best to see a dermatologist.
How to use them step by step
- Wash your face and dry it well. The patch needs dry skin to stick.
- Don't apply creams or serums to that area before the patch.
- Place the patch and press gently for a few seconds.
- Leave it on for several hours or overnight.
- When the center turns white or cloudy, it has absorbed; replace it if needed.
Extra tips
- Use them at night so they work while you sleep.
- Some are thin enough to wear during the day under light makeup.
- Fun designs are perfect for wearing at home.
